The most important title I’ve ever had in my life is “Mother.” The title of “Grandmother” is so close in my heart, it’s hard to relegate it to second place. I suppose, however, simply for the sake of birth order and my expanding age, I must. In my own life, “grandmothers” were somewhat elusive personages. Manners, politeness, being seen and not heard, were the orders of the day. To my own Darling Doodlebug I want to be a faithful friend, a trusted confident, a playmate with car keys who can swim pretty well, and, to her mother’s dismay, an occasional partner in crime. I also want to be a guide, when asked, to some of life’s mysteries, and a teacher to the crafts and facts that I’ve learned in my own travels and travails.post.
That's all for a beginning. I will write more, believe me. Till then, I remain faithfully, Katharine’s Grandmother.
